A clear page, the first time
A quick check of paper size and page order can save a whole stack of reprints.
1. Match the paper in your printer
Choose US Letter for 8.5 × 11 inch paper, or A4 for 210 × 297 mm paper. The preview and downloaded PDF both use your selection. Changing paper size changes the page dimensions; it does not change the questions in your current set.
2. Download the PDF or use Print
Download PDF saves a document with the current settings, questions and answer keys. Open it in your usual PDF reader. Print opens your browser’s print dialog with worksheet pages only. The website navigation and controls are left out.
Use portrait orientation and select the same paper size in the print dialog. For direct browser printing, turn off browser headers and footers. Print at actual size or 100% first. If a driver clips content, check its paper and margin settings before printing the whole set. Printer software varies; inspect its preview.
3. Check one page
Print one worksheet page first. Check that the title, first question and footer are visible and that the text is comfortable to read. If the page feels crowded, choose fewer questions. Twelve questions leave the most writing room; forty-eight make a compact sheet.
4. Keep keys out of student copies
With answer keys included, all worksheets come first, followed by all keys. A two-version download contains Worksheet A, Worksheet B, Key A and Key B. Choose the appropriate page range in your PDF reader, or switch answer keys off before making student copies.
When saving a PDF from a print dialog
The direct Download PDF button is the simplest way to get a correctly sized document. If you instead choose your browser’s Save as PDF destination, inspect its page count, paper size and margins before saving.
